STARS
STARS - Sustainable Travel: Active * Responsible * Safe
Welcome to Cleveland Road Primary School's STARS webpage.
STARS is TfL's accreditation scheme for London schools and nurseries. STARS inspires young Londoners to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling.
STARS supports pupils' wellbeing, helps to reduce congestion at the school gates and improve road safety and air quality.
Did you know that the average journey to school is less than one kilometre? That's around a 10-minute walk! However, many of these journeys are made by car, leading to congestion and an unsafe and polluted environment for us all.
By swapping car journeys for active travel, together, STARS schools can make a real difference to our city and support the Mayor's vision for healthy streets.
Since the accreditation scheme started in 2007, STARS schools' pupils, parents/carers and staff have replaced over 13 million miles of car journeys with active travel! That's an incredible step towards a healthier, less congested London.
At Cleveland Road Primary School, we are currently working to achieve the prestigious GOLD standard. Promoting healthy living is at the heart of our curriculum and our pupils have many opportunities to take part in activities which increase their understanding of how they can live healthy lifestyles while also improving and protecting the environment. You will have noticed many measures that have been put into place in recent years from the planting of our living wall to the many events that have become part of our Cleveland Healthy Lifestyle Programme.
